Welcome to the world’s coolest festival
The Darwin Fridge Festival is a celebration of Darwin, its people and the humble fridge. It’s a chance for everybody, everywhere, to make art. Three weeks of workshops, exhibitions and celebrations all over town. Paint a fridge. Glitter up an esky. Get poetic. Put a group together or go solo. When you’re done, join in one of the exhibitions around town or upload your art as part of the online community art exhibition. Prizes for the best fridge, esky, magnet and poem. A festival all about you and your fridge.
Don’t forget to email us a photo of your artwork for the digital exhibition and a shot at fame, fortune and fabulousness.

Fridge art
Tired of looking at the same old fridge? Wish you had a fancy fridge? Grab a brush, roller, stencil, spray can or permanent marker and get creative. If you’d like a bit of guidance, we can provide you an artist (for a small fee) who will run a workshop for you and your friends, business or community group - get a bit of team-building going on. Otherwise, be brave, fly solo. Mosaic your fridge. Cover it with sparkles. Or plastic flowers. Or faux fur. Find your passion. Be bold and stand out in the land of white goods.
Magnetic Art
Sick of other people’s magnets on your fridge? Make your own! Stick a piece of paper over some crappy advertisement and turn it into art. Otherwise you can buy strips of fridge magnet backing and cut it to size. If you want to take part in the Attraction exhibition, your magnet will need to be no bigger than a postcard. There’s a free workshop if you need a little inspiration or some company.
Excellent Eskies
Make something specky from the humble esky. Get arty at home or join a workshop. On November 12, there’s a marathon of esky workshops. Come on down to the Darwin Waterfront and work with one of the artists on site. When you’re done, join in the excellent esky exhibition for a chance for prizes, acclaim and esky fame.
Fridge Poetry
Got some poetry in your soul? Get it on the fridge. Visit Darwin Libraries in Casuarina, City, Karama, or Nightcliff or the NT Writers Centre and create your poem on one of the free fridges supplied. Come along to the workshop and learn the fundamentals of good poetry. Or get poetic in the comfort of your own home. Photograph the finished thing and email it to us at the festival.

Lush prizes for finest fridge, esky, poem & magnet. Thank you to Vibe/Medina, Shine Gifts, The Coffee Club, NT Writers Centre, Deckchair Cinema & Sea Darwin.
