James Mason Nasir

By Oldrich Dubsky - Posted on 28 October 2011

James studied Art at the Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney in the 1960s. He had a one man show in an arcade in Smith Street, Darwin at age 16. The paintings were sold in Guineas (1 pound 1 shilling). James had a 35 year break from Art and is now in retirement slowly getting back into it. James exhibited with Artists such as Clifford Possum, Harold Thomas and Snelger in the late 60s and was featured in numerous newspaper articles being touted as an art ‘protege’, but the attention was overwhelming for him which is why he decided to have the extended break. Welcome back, James!
